iPad 2 - What was not said. Changes in Computer
It was a magical presentation of a consummate host. We all agree on that. In a speech just over an hour, with a voice that has lost a bit of quiet intensity, Steve Jobs mesmerized the audience Wednesday at the Yerba Buena Arts Center in San Francisco, and by extension the world, publishes the mexico.cnn.com portal. His
2 iPad presentation served four missions: general consumers seduced, surprised the geeks speculators caused to competitors and pleased Wall Street. Prospective presidential candidates should study this.
Essentially, Jobs was selling a dream that can make your heart beat with desire. "Technology alone is not enough," said one of his most lyrical of the day. "The technology is married to the liberal arts, humanities and performance is what makes our hearts sing."
Being completely honest: Yes, I want to buy one. But a dream
come true comes with limitations and flaws, especially in the business of the gadgets. Like any good magician, Jobs used a trick to distract us from things we should not see.
Attached to the cable
Mages cables used in his act will not let you see them, but that does not mean they are not there. In this case, the cable is the same old cable you have to use to synchronize your iPad with your PC or Mac from day one.
Yes, applications such as Audiogalaxy Air Server or let you send music or video to the iPad via Wi-Fi, but not replace the need to connect to iTunes to backup or synchronize content for most applications.
In a device that is supposed to require less effort to connect, and in a world that is moving increasingly towards synchronization in the cloud, this is an awkward setback. Male
memory
How much RAM will the new iPad? Jobs does not know because he told us. Since all other specifications listed over the device, it seems a strange omission. Could it be because your memory is exactly the same as the original iPad: 256 megabytes?
That might look shabby compared to competitors like Xoom iPad Motorola or HP Touchpad, which have both with 1 gigabyte of RAM.
But there is another type of memory you know is exactly the same in the iPad 2: Storage space (ROM). Apple tablet still has a maximum of 64 gigabytes. Of course, competition has not passed that yet. But given the standard rate of technological progress, one would expect a 128-gigabyte hard drive for this day.
Behind the screen
Contrary to the rumors suggested, there was no improvement in resolution of the monitor, which means that the iPad 2 is lagging behind the iPhone 4. And while Jobs
tells us how many frames per second video camera the new iPad record, no mention of megapixels. This is not a specification that has put aside when it announces new models of iPhone.
a brake on progress?
Amid the hubbub, it is easy to forget that many features announced for the iPad 2 were expected, and technically feasible in the IPAD-1. It was widely noted at the time that Apple was holding back on purpose integrated cameras, for example, for the iPad 2 could draw more attention to its output.
may never know the truth, but we know that a "new" function "on Wednesday touted the ability to use the mute button to block orientation on the screen, was originally available in the first iPad. The button changed its purpose only when the operating system iOS4 operating system was introduced.
What things, if any, is deliberately holding back Apple iPad 3? "Improvements in the reports? A screen retina? "Sync with the cloud? "Stereo speakers? (Yes: the iPad 2 still is mono).
One thing we can be very sure of is that there will be another presentation without painfully beautiful as a tablet technology around this time next year.
