The Provincial Municipality of La Mar 156 000 285 executed soles in investment projects aimed at health, between January and August of the years 2007 to 2010.
This represents 0.8% of the 19 million new soles 471 000 204 executed on capital projects during the past four years.
In 2008 there was no investment in health. On the other hand, the year of increased investment in health was 2007, with 86 000 796 nuevos soles, which accounted for 1.9% of the total budget. Among the four major investment projects in the past four years, is "Building health infrastructure at I-4 3rd stage of San Miguel" with a planned investment of 364 000 807 nuevos soles and with a run of 28,000 new soles, until August 2010.
The doctor Augusto Tapia Cárdenas, head of the medical post EsSalud of San Miguel, said "the deficiencies of the province La Mar in health are many. For example, a hospital of the Ministry of Health, according to patient demand, lack of specialists, low pay and poor working conditions and infrastructure. Medical Posta has a EsSalud, but attention is restricted to the insured assigned. I believe that local government should increase the percentage of investment, at least 25 or 35% in health, infrastructure, equipment and even incentives to health professionals working in rural areas of the province.
